Herpes is a virus that leads to painful blisters and sores. These sores occur around the mouth and genitals. Most people infected with the herpes virus tend to feel guilty and very ashamed once they find out that they have it. But what most people don't know is that they are among millions of people who are also infected and affected by the same virus. Once one is infected by the virus, he/she may tend to think that his/her sexual life after being infected with herpes has just come to an abrupt end. But the point they miss is that they can still enjoy their sex life by using condoms every time when having sex. However, during outbreaks, it is advisable not to have sex at all to avoid infecting their partners.
It is a common belief among most people that herpes virus can only be transmitted through sexual intercourse. Despite it being listed under Sexually, Transmitted Diseases (STDs), there are other ways you can contract herpes- a virus that causes painful sore on the skin, mouth, genitals and other body parts. However, this virus does not cause a serious health threat but it must be addressed as soon as it shows symptoms. There are two types of herpes virus you should know; Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) 1 and 2 with HSV1 being responsible for oral herpes and HSV2 for genital herpes.
